Brocton were on the front foot from the star and after a flurry of near misses the more pessimistic of the home support may well have thought that this was going to be one of those days. Jack Weldon began with a double strike, both attempts blocked, before a Dan Lomas header gave Regan Smith a chance, again blocked. Smith almost turned provider moments later with a cross met by Christian Blanchette, who volleyed wide.
Their tails up, the passing was incisive and a through ball into Blanchette’s timely run put him through, only to be hauled down by Adam Keeley. The referee had little option but to send Keeley off.
The resulting free kick continued the trend by finding the post and bouncing to safety. Then a great pass set Jack Weldon free on the right and his ball to Smith was crossed for Dan Lomas, but his firm downward header once again found the post. Those pessimists must have been in full voice as Chelmsley then went on to take an unlikely lead. A free kick for them outside the box was drilled in and as the Brocton defence watched, the ball was prevented from going out for a corner and put back into the danger area where Steve Sadler slotted home.

The second half continued in the same vein as Devoir this time found the head of Smith, who buried his chance. Blanchette then had to be replaced by Josh Wilson having been injured in a tackle that raised everybody’s hackles. Fortunately tempers were kept and the game carried on.
Chelmsley had to work hard and did not give up this now uneven contest but when Malaki Norford had his shot blocked, it was Dan Lomas who followed up to tap in and a great run and pull back by Smith gave Lomas his second, this time with a firm drive past keeper James Kelly.

Brocton are in second place in the Midland League Division One after a superb 7-1 mauling of Chelmsley Town at Silkmore Lane.
Chelmsley were reduced to ten men after just ten minutes when Adam Keeley was red carded for bringing down Christian Blanchette. In the 19th minute however, the ten men went in front when Stephen Sadler scored from close range.
A four-goal blitz in eight minutes then turned things in the Badgers’ favour. Blanchette scored with a towering header in the 42nd minute and 60 seconds later Regan Smith found the net with a calm finish. Hinckley’s Leicester Road FC eased to a comfortable 5-0 home win over Birmingham side Chelmsley Town to make it three straight start-of-season wins.
After their FA Cup heroics in Stoke last weekend, the Road were back on league duties and after an early own goal broke the deadlock, further well taken strikes from Jordan Burrows, Matt Langham and a brace from Nuno Gomes sealed three straightforward enough points.
LRFC began brightly and on 2 mins an outrageous Burrows dummy flummoxed the away defence, but the ball just ran out of play as he closed in on goal. A misplaced Chelmsley header then put Langham free and his fierce shot was just diverted wide by the keeper’s outstretched boot.
Following a Chelmsley free kick that went high and wide, the Road broke swiftly and Liam Read raiding down the left fed Gomes on the right and cutting in his curling shot was only just finger tipped wide.
It was all Leicester Road and when Sam Munton beat his man down the right wing on 7 mins and put in a dangerous cross, the Chelmsley centre half could only lunge and divert if past his helpless keeper.
On 10 mins Chelmsley did have half a chance with a dinked ball over the top, but their centre forward was flagged offside and minutes later a similar pass almost caught the Road out, but skipper Callum Earls got back to head clear to ease the danger.
The Road continued to dominate possession and territory, however, and on 20 mins a lovely, flowing move made it 2-0 with Gomes this time raiding down the right and putting in a far post cross that Read did really well to hook back on the volley, so Burrows could ghost in and finish emphatically.
A Chelmsley free kick minutes later did sneak through, but Road centre half Adam Hohn was on the post to clear. LRFC full back Pro Ncube then saw a looping cross graze the bar with the keeper stranded and on 35 mins a curling Mylan Charles free kick found Langham on the edge of the box and his snapshot flew just wide.
Gomes also got a shot off that was well saved low down and Read’s 25 yard pile driver dipped wickedly, forcing the keeper to scramble it away second attempt - but on 43 mins it was 3-0 as a neat one two between Langham and Gomes saw the latter shoot low into the bottom right corner.
Road keeper Will Highland did have to smartly palm away a drilled shot right on half time, but the Road were in control – and they didn’t let up second half. On 50 mins a dangerous right wing cross was missed by everyone, but Earls was unable to get his shot off quick enough and it was cleared.

Hinckley AFC made it two wins in three days as they hit five for the first time in almost a year in a comprehensive win at Chelmsley Town.
In Hinckley’s biggest away win since April 2018, there were three fine individual strikes in the second half as Courtney Belford’s men also kept a third clean sheet in four games.
Three goals in ten minutes either side of half time did the damage as Jake Healy’s brace late in the first half set Hinckley on their way before Luke Richards’ fine solo goal put the game to bed.
Then Ryan Ball and Dimitri Dunkley both struck eye-catching late goals of their own to add gloss to the scoreline.
Belford made two changes to the side that beat Paget Rangers on Saturday, as Mark Williams and George Brindley came in for Bekir Halil and Greg Webb.
The sides exchanged early chances as Ty Belford held Kye Dryden’s best chance for the hosts after a neat passage of play, before a corner led to Healy’s effort forcing a smart save from Tom Allsop.
And AFC broke the deadlock eight minutes before the break. Dimitri Dunkley’s clever trickery down the right saw him leave his man on the floor and cross for Healy to convert on the volley from close range.
Richards then missed a glorious chance for his first of the season when he somehow put Luke Delaney’s pullback wide from inside the six yard box with an open goal to hit.
But it didn’t matter too much, as on the stroke of half time, Hinckley hit another blow. This time Healy was brought down by Liam Norris in the box, but he dusted himself down and slotted home the resulting spot kick for his second in eight minutes.
If Chelmsley harboured any hope of a result, they needed a fast start to the second period but instead it was Hinckley who quickly put the result to bed.
The only thing missing from the season so far was a goal for striker Richards, but he made up for his earlier miss two minutes into the half. His first of the season was worth the wait – a magnificent solo effort, turning and beating three defenders on a powerful run before burying from outside the box.
Chelmsley nearly pulled one back through a stunner of their own, but Dominic Oliver’s ambitious free kick from fully 45 yards struck the post and Williams hacked the rebound to safety.
As Hinckley sought further goals, Ball’s pinpoint through ball was controlled just too heavily by Commins, whose touch allowed Allsop to gather when one on one.
But Hinckley were almost having their own goal of the month contest in one half, Ball adding to the contenders with a fine strike from 25 yards to net his first for the club after Allsop’s punch only reached the edge of the box.
And as the game entered stoppage time, Dunkley added a goal to his display as he turned his man and lashed one into the roof of the net for his second in two games.
It almost became six, but after Commins’ good work down the right, Dunkley’s scuffed effort hit the post, and after pinball in the box Lewis Collins backheeled into the net but it struck Dunkley on the line in the process, and was ruled out for offside.
But it was still Hinckley’s biggest win of 2019 as they moved to the top of the early season table.

Chelmsley nearly pulled one back through a stunner of their own, but Dominic Oliver’s ambitious free kick from fully 45 yards struck the post and Williams hacked the rebound to safety.
As Hinckley sought further goals, Ball’s pinpoint through ball was controlled just too heavily by Commins, whose touch allowed Allsop to gather when one on one.
But Hinckley were almost having their own goal of the month contest in one half, Ball adding to the contenders with a fine strike from 25 yards to net his first for the club after Allsop’s punch only reached the edge of the box.
And as the game entered stoppage time, Dunkley added a goal to his display as he turned his man and lashed one into the roof of the net for his second in two games.
It almost became six, but after Commins’ good work down the right, Dunkley’s scuffed effort hit the post, and after pinball in the box Lewis Collins backheeled into the net but it struck Dunkley on the line in the process, and was ruled out for offside.
But it was still Hinckley’s biggest win of 2019 as they moved to the top of the early season table.

FC STRATFORD boss Dave Poulson hopes Dylan Parker’s hat-trick against Chelmsley Town in the FA Vase will act as a catalyst for him to push for a place in the Stratford Town first team.
Parker, making his third appearance for Poulson, proved to be the difference in Sunday’s Vase first qualifying round tie at the Arden Garages Stadium, as his three goals were enough to give his side a 3-2 victory over higher-ranked Chelmsley.
FC Stratford, who pocketed £550 prize money, will now entertain another Midland League Division One side in GNP Sports in the second qualifying round on Saturday, 14th September.
Poulson said: “It was great to see Parker getting a hat-trick and as much as it would be great to have him with us for a while, I really hope this is the catalyst for him to be playing at a higher level again.”
When asked about Parker’s form, first team boss Tommy Wright said: “He was unfortunate not to be involved in our last two games, but I set him the challenge of getting FC Stratford through to the next round of the Vase and he did exactly that.
“We shall see how he does this week in training, but I’m sure he will be doing his best to stake a claim for a shirt this weekend.”

Lichfield City FC lost ground on the sides at the top of the table after a shock loss to basement boys Chelmsley Town.
Jay Hawkins’ men had high hopes going into the game, with the two sides at opposite ends of the Midland Football League, but their clinical edge from recent fixtures had deserted them for once.
An early Danny Brain goal gave the early season strugglers the lead and put City on the back foot.
Dan Griffiths fired wide from distance as Lichfield looked to rally from going behind before Tom Brown sent a volley over the top.

Romans Scuppered At Coles-Hill By Chelmsley’s Guerrillas…

This was a surprising result for the independent onlooker, for despite an initial surge by Town, the Romans of Rocester grew into the contest and really ought to have scored more than the single goal smuggled in by right-sided attacker Elisio Francisco, which had equalised Kye Dryden’s early strike for the hosts. A free-kick goal by well known home forward Luke Barlone had given Town a 2-1 half-time lead but the feeling was that if Roman Jordan Dodd could keep his form, surely the guests would spoil the Chelmsley party. However, the second period was a gross disappointment, containing infringements, spoiling tactics, poor passing and in general, a total degeneration in the level of play. A very late third goal for Town, again netted emphatically by Dryden, rubbed salt into the sore gums of the Roman defence, in which skipper Carl ‘Centurion’ Allen and Josh ‘Optio’ Sedgley had performed stealthily.
The match referee was patient, dished out a few cautions but displayed some annoyance just before Chelmsley’s third goal by sin-binning Barlone, not long after he had booked him. Barlone had apparently been involved in an altercation with a spectator who, probably like most Rocester fans, was severely miffed by the striker’s dramatic falls with excruciating yells, which usually impressed the main official…
It was a cold night at Pack Meadow and I had ventured up a bouncing metal ladder to reach a platform above a shelter, opposite the dugouts and Coleshill Town’s uniquely quaint grandstand. I might take on the nickname ‘Gantryman’ soon but in truth, for filming on a dark night under not overly bright floodlights, the view was rather decent. It was cold up there though. In fact it was very cold indeed up yonder. It’s called global warming, you know…
However, Town started well, Dryden forcing visiting goalie Charlie Wood to save a low shot at his right post, then the ‘keeper leapt right to keep out a decent free-kick by the busy Dom Oliver. Subsequently though, Rocester would make a break forward, Dodd delayed his pass to the criminally badly marked Francisco to his right and Town nabbed the ball and counter-attacked quickly. A pass by right-sided defender John Daley sent the speedy Dryden clear at inside-left and his low left-booter beat the advancing Wood and rested in the bottom right corner of the net. Soon, Barlone reached the left byeline but when Roman Matt Nutt deflected the ball towards his own near post, Wood saved with one of his caligae, tied about his feet. (Boots…)

Until the hosts scored again, the game was notable for the offense created by the Romans and really, they should have been ahead before Barlone scored with his set-piece. Jordan Godfrey’s near post header from a left-wing corner clipped the upright, nearly removing Francisco’s head in the process, Luke Smith drove wide from a good position and then the Legion regained parity. A free-kick from wide left by Jack Hurd simply bounced across the goal-face, seemingly ignored by the players who probably thought someone else would latch onto it. Francisco must have been so surprised to tap the ball over the goal-line at the right stick…
Dodd powered a low left-footer from 17 yards which home gloveman Josh Benton dived left for to keep out of his goal, then Dodd chested down a long ball at 16 yards and volleyed it as it fell, missing the target by not much. Finally, Smith got in a hard header from 4 yards, as he met Hurd’s fine centre at the near post but somehow Benton reacted superbly to claw the ball away. A Francisco shot rose way too high but it really did seem a matter of time before the Romans breached the Chelmsley wall held by guarding skipper Steve Sadler and the inimitable Chris Gumery…
SECOND PERIOD...
Not so, because after a fine challenge on the well placed Dryden by Allen to relieve some pressure, Town won a free-kick 19 yards from goal. Oliver was probably told by Barlone, “Pardon me, my good man, this one is very much mine…” (What he actually said probably went something like: “I’m f…..’ havin’ this…”) And the forward lashed a chest-high shot round Rocester’s defensive wall (He breached a Roman wall? Really?) and into the net via the right post. There was still time for Oliver to fasten onto a Roman error but chip his shot too high.
ILLUMINATION REQUIRED...
Thus the recess arrived and with Roman Asa Tomkinson scurrying about in midfield, Hurd looking mildly dangerous and Dodd leading the offense like he wanted a memorial arch built in Rocester using JCB diggers and equipment, it still seemed only a matter of time before the Legionaries plundered the spoils.
Except that, er, they didn’t… The second period was as uninspiring as the opening period had been interesting. So few actual chances were created that it became more trench warfare in World War 1 than an ancient Roman attack on Coles-Hill… A shot from distance by Allen for Rocester was fielded by Benton, a low Hurd effort was fielded too and in the closing seconds, Sedgley (I think…) drove a low delivery across the face of the home goal from right to left. The hosts? Liam Morris drove too high and Dryden scored in added time and, er, that was that…
Cautions for Nutt and Hurd of Rocester, plus Morris (for an unseemly challenge) and Barlone for Town underlined the petty nature of the second 45, following the tea and biscuits interval. Yes, Dodd battled, without getting the better of Gumery and Sadler, yes, Francisco flattered to deceive but much of the Romans’ good work emanated from Allen and Tomkinson, sometimes Godfrey and Smith. The visitors made three substitutions, all to no avail and when Dryden moved into the right side of the 18 yard box to lash a rising drive into the top right corner of the net, Roman hearts bled.
Dryden took his chances, Rob and Tom Ellis were effective for the hosts, Benton’s saves were crucial and Barlone was simply a pain in the arse.
It didn’t escape my notice either that on the Rocester team there was a Wood, a Hill and a Marsh, as well as a Hurd, a Nutt and a Sedg-ley… Hmm, a bit countryside-like…
So, I descended the icy metal ladder from my perch and drove the few miles home for a slice of fruit cake and a bowl of Cheerios.

Romulus began their defence of the Midland League Cup with a tricky away tie at the Pack Meadow ground against Chelmsley Town on a freezing Monday night.
The game kicked off with Roms on the front foot passing the ball round well, but not finding that telling final ball.
After a few half chances Romulus were awarded a penalty which Jordan Nadat dispatched sending the keeper the wrong way and putting the visitors one goal to the good.
Eventually Chelmsley on the break found a through ball that resulted in a neat finish to level the scoreline. After the goal the home side played with more confidence, but Roms still created chances before half time.
The second period got underway and Chelmsley Town came out with more attacking intent, but never really bothered Brad Clarkson in the Romulus goal.
With substitutions made Romulus began to dictate the match more, but could not find that winning strike.
A moment of slight humour was brought to the game from the referee in the middle. During a stop in play the ref realised he had split his boot and went towards the technical areas. Thankfully the Roms bench came to the rescue providing tape to strap his boot back whilst causing a few laughs and comments from the stands.
Romulus finished the the game strongly, but with the whistle gone it was straight to penalties to decide the cup tie.
With Chelmsley Town missing two kicks and Roms with a 100% record, it was captain Tom Weale that struck the decisive penalty to send Romulus through to the next round with a 2-4 advantage.
Roms now turn their thoughts back to the promotion push when they will entertain Lye Town at Castle Vale Stadium on Saturday 23rd November with a 3pm kick off.

Hinckley AFC picked up their first win of 2020 as three first half goals helped them to a comprehensive 4-0 win over Chelmsley Town.
In truth, Hinckley never looked like relinquishing the lead given to them by Ryan Ball on the quarter hour, with Lewis Commins and Luke Richards adding to the lead before the half time whistle.
And Brady Middleton added a fourth late on – with the clean sheet, a first since August, as pleasing to Courtney Belford and his staff as the four goals.
Belford made two changes to the side that lost out to Studley on Saturday, Commins and Richards both returning to the side.
And Hinckley were in control from the off, going close when Josh Benton’s double saved denied Commins and then Ball, after Middleton had set the former through on goal.
It didn’t take much longer, though, for the opener. The visitors didn’t deal with Curtis Townley’s long throw, and Ball shifted onto his right foot to allow him the space to bend one into the top corner from 20 yards.
Chelmsley briefly threatened to hit back through Kieran Fitzgerald after a breakaway down the right, while Hinckley looked for a second when Benton denied Middleton from a tight angle.
Belford has urged his side to take hold of the key moments in games, and he could have no complaints in this one. Eleven minutes before half time, AFC doubled their lead when Middleton was fouled after playing a pass, but the referee played a good advantage which allowed Commins to cut inside his man and bury coolly into the corner.
Scorer on Saturday, Middleton remained provider for the third, upended in the box after a mazy run. Richards took hold of the ball and, after Shane Benjamin’s miss at the weekend, he made no such mistake as he sent Benton the wrong way from 12 yards.
That gave Hinckley the half time comfort, and they set about increasing that lead further after the break as they continued their stronghold.
Four minutes into the half, Middleton forced a fingertip save from Benton after great work down the right by Commins. From the resulting corner, Ky Green’s header was saved and Commins saw two follow ups blocked on the line.
Then, as Hinckley looked to make their lead more comprehensive, Middleton scuffed wide from Green’s header back across goal.
The sides then exchanged chances as Kye Dryden struck wide after a Chelmsley break down the right, before Ball’s fine knock picked out Richards, who again was denied by Benton.
The only time Hinckley’s clean sheet looked in doubt was with 15 minutes to play, when Fitzgerald’s fine attempt at a 25-yard half volley clipped the bar, while Hinckley hit the woodwork themselves moments later when Halil’s effort from another Commins pull-back was inches too high.
They did, though, grab a fourth with a minute to play when Middleton beat Benton to a long pass into the inside right channel, lofting over the ‘keeper for his second in two games.
For Hinckley, four goals and a clean sheet represents a fine reaction to Saturday’s defeat and sets them up for a trip to GNP Sports on Saturday.

TEN-MAN Chelmsley Town remain embroiled in the Midland Football League Division One dogfight after a 2-0 home reverse against Kirby Muxloe.
With Storm Dennis wreaking havoc over the weekend, the majority of the division was out of action following a string of postponements, giving Town a real opportunity to improve their league standing of 18th.
But the visitors from Leicestershire were not so keen to help out their league rivals, departing Pack Meadow with all three points to aid their push for a top-half position.
The hosts’ were not helped by a straight red card for defender Robert Ellis just before the half-hour mark, a dismissal which The Ferrymen were unable to take advantage of until the second half.
Within four minutes of the restart, the visitors had their opening goal after George Bosworth finished from Suleiman Nassor’s pass during a swift counter-attack.
Chelmsley’s afternoon went from bad to worse when the two players switched roles for the second goal on 72 minutes, completing the scoring to compound Town’s misery.
Sitting a place outside of the drop zone, Chelmsley aim for a response away to third-placed Studley in Saturday’s trip to The Beehive (3pm).

Carter’s four-goal showing, plus strikes from Jordan Jones (2) and Harvey Smith, put the Bees in seven heaven in the encounter played at Redditch United’s Trico Stadium.
The result leaves Chelmsley placed precariously just above the Division One drop zone in 18th, three points ahead of Nuneaton Griff.

Lichfield City FC produced a five-star performance to earn all three points against Chelmsley Town.
The Brownsfield Park men got off to the perfect start with an early goal when Josh Mansell’s cross was headed home by Brad Rolston,
James Taylor doubled Lichfield’s lead when he tapped home from a goalmouth scramble.
It was almost 3-0 when Mansell found the net only to see the goal chalked off for handball.
Max Black was next to go close as City dominated proceedings, but his effort was turned onto the post by the keeper.
The second half saw more of the same from Lichfield who got their third when Black made no mistake from six yards out.
Luke Delaney made it 4-0 with a neat finish from the edge of the box, before the win was wrapped up when sub Owen Nolan finished after smart work from Black.

The first 10 minutes of the game had both teams having heated exchanges due to some late challenges from the Chelmsley Town players, which the referee had to intervene and stamp his authority on the game.
The first real chance came not long after with the Chelmsley forward beating the offside trap and the Bilbrook defence for pace, only for his shot to be sliced high and wide. This woke Bilbrook up and on 25 minutes took the lead after a inch perfect pass was took under control and was lifted over the top of the opposition goalkeeper who was sliding out to make the save.
The second goal came on the stroke of half time when Bilbrook where awarded an penalty after a foul just inside the box. The penalty itself was placed to the goalkeepers left, who had guessed the correct way to dive and got a hand on it but could only push it into his own net.

Chelmsley with the rejuvenated belief so early on where hoping that the shock they had caused to Bilbrook would be enough to get them level quickly. However Bilbrook stood firm and had to ride it out and bring the tempo of the game back down to a level where they could dictate the game.
From here the game had little chances after that with Bilbrook shooting high a wide and Chelmsley having a chance one on one with the goalkeeper who was alert to the danger, flying out his area and clearing the ball down field.
Bilbrook stay top of the league with this win after 6 games played.
